1. Remember that stem-change verbs (e--ie) change the vowel e to an ie in the following forms of their conjugations: yo, tú, él, ella, Ud., ellos, ellas, Uds. (Yo cierro, tú cierras, él, ella, Ud. cierra, nosotros cerramos, vosotros cerráis, ellos, ellas, Uds. cierran)
2. Stem-change verbs ending in -ar and -er only stem-change in the present tense. In addition to stem-changing in the present tense, -ir verbs will also take a stem-change in the present participle, the third person of the preterite tense, certain commands, and in the Subjunctive Mood. (These concepts will be presented later.)
